Is the 8mm or 12mm rope better suited to my hound? The thickness of our rope are 8mm and 12mm, 8mm is better suited to puppys and smaller breeds while the 12mm is better suited to larger breeds and chunky puppies. Our rope leads have been tested on and are suitable for all breeds. The small trigger clips we use for small breeds have a breaking load of 35kg and the large trigger clips a breaking load of 200kg. Our trigger clips have high breaking capacity however you must still inspect your rope lead regularly to ensure there is no wear and tear.

Care instructions and cleaning your new rope leadTo preserve the beauty of your rope lead we suggest keeping them away from water and dirty surfaces, use them for clean walks only. The rope leads are made from 100% cotton and hand dyed, for that reason we wouldn't suggest submerging them in water as the colour will fade. If they do get dirty you can wipe them with a damp cloth. DO NOT submerge the rope in water nor machine wash. DO NOT twist the rope opposite to that which the rope sits otherwise it will unravel. Hardware will need oiling with WD40 to ensure it works to full capacity. Please check your items regularly for wear and tear. We handmake a braided collection of rope leads and collars for those hounds that like to get mucky, the braided style of rope is durable, waterproof and easy to clean so will be more suitable for muddy walks.

How strong are rope leads?I use a strong splicing technique when working on my rope leads, this acts as a knotting method so the splice gets tighter when the lead is in use. I have carefully sourced a hardware supplier who understands the importance or our clips and have worked hard to test their hardware to prove to me that the breaking and working loads are suitable for our many different customers sizes and weights. Our rope leads have been rigorously weight tested on all sizes and weights of hound and we have NEVER had a clip fail. As a customer you can do your part to prolong the life of your ropes. Choose a suitable thickness of rope for your dogs walking style. Hardware should be oiled with WD40 to ensure its working to full capacity. You must check for wear or tear and risk access whether an item is suitable for your dogs walking style. Keep them out of the sun as they may fade. Do not machine wash. Do not twist the rope opposite to that which it sits. Keeping your rope leads for clean dry walks only will preserve their beauty. I hand dye the rope and whipping myself so I’m proud to be able to offer my customers some of the most unique and beautiful pieces of ropewear on the market at competitive prices. When you consider some companies are selling training leads for upwards of £40 I think our prices of mid £20’s are great value for money.

I have a specific colour in mind for my rope lead/collar how can I be certain I get exactly what I want? All rope leads are cut, dyed and handmade to order therefore no two rope leads/collars will ever be the exact same. Shades in colour and the style may differ but the colours used will remain consistent. Pictures on the website are examples of our previous work and are not a picture of the exact rope lead you will receive. If you have something exact in mind make sure you send us a message with your exact requirements.
